About Us
Hugo Feed Mill began as the place to conduct business in the agriculture-based economy of the area, and as farmland yielded way to housing developments over the years, Hugo Feed Mill changed to meet the needs of the town’s new residents. The few remaining local farmers still depend on the Mill for agriculture chemicals, seed, equipment, grain sales, and supplies, but Hugo Feed Mill offers a broad range of products for busy homeowners and hobby farm enthusiasts. Whether you need pet food, horse feed, lawn fertilizer, or a bag of nails, the Mill and its adjoining hardware store can meet your needs.
History
Hugo Feed Mill & Elevator Co. is owned and operated by the Marier Family, long-time residents of Hugo. The Mill was a country grain business in the 1930s grinding local grains and manufacturing cattle, hog and poultry feed for the many small farms in animal agriculture. Being located next to the railroad tracks, we sold coal by the tons to heat residential homes and businesses. The Mill has flourished under the leadership of brothers Joe and Quentin Marier. Today the Mill is managed by Steve Marier, the fourth generation of Mariers’, along with several other family members. In our agriculture prime, we sold thousands of bushels of grain each year and assisted farmers with the care of their crops. We have become experts at helping you find the right products to keep your lawns healthy and green, keeping your pets well fed, tips on home repair/maintenance – and much more.
The Hugo Feed Mill is more than just your run of the mill store. You’ll get a warm welcome and a “how ya’ doin’?” while you find everything you need for your lawn, garden, and animal care. Stop by. We’d like to welcome you to Hugo Feed Mill!
Hugo Feed Mill
Where the city meets the country. Since 1925, Hugo Feed Mill has welcomed members of the community into its store as friends, not merely customers. Sitting in downtown Hugo, and surrounded by many of the original “village” buildings, Hugo Feed Mill serves an increasingly suburban clientele, all the while maintaining its farm “roots.”
